To participate in a MOOC as a student of teacher you will need to have a user account or log in with your organisation ID (Haka login). Then, enrol yourself to the course, see "Full access as a student". Some courses approve guest access. Note that guests cannot complete courses.

If you would like to change the language of the MOOC site, you will find the language selection drop-down menu at the bottom of each page.

New account and login

If you do not have a user ID on mooc.helsinki.fi you will need to create a new account as follows:
  1. Fill in the New Account form. You will also find the form on the MOOC site "Log in" | "Create new account".
  2. An email will be sent to your email address. If you do not receive a confirmation email, check the spam box. It can sometimes take a while before the confirmation email arrives.
  3. The confirmation message you receive has a link. Click it.
  4. Your account will be confirmed and you will be logged in.
From now on, you will only need to enter your personal username and password to log in to mooc.helsinki.fi.

Haka login

If you have an account from a Finnish university or research institute, you can log in at "Log in" | Haka login. The user information is retrieved directly from your home organisation.

Full access as a student

  1. Log in to mooc.helsinki.fi.
  2. Select the course from "Current MOOCs" you want to participate in. Click on the name of the course.
  3. Click "Course Dashboard" or go direct to item 5.
  4. Click "Enrol me to this course as a student".
  5. Click "Enrol me" at the bottom of the page.
  6. If you are prompted for an "enrolment key", use the one that your teacher has given you. Typically, the key is published at mooc.helsinki.fi under the course description. Click "Enrol me".

Guest access

Some courses approve guest access without a personal account. Choose "Log in" |"Log in as a guest". If a special guest password is set, it is usually published at mooc.helsinki.fi under the course description.
